My Personal Guide to Conquering Purple Cloud Mountain in Black Myth: Wukong

Hey there, fellow pilgrims! So, you’ve made it to the enigmatic and treacherous Purple Cloud Mountain in Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong. Let me tell you, this secret area is no walk in the park, but oh boy, is it rewarding. I’ve spent countless hours here, and I’m gonna walk you through every step, every boss, and every hidden treasure. Trust me, by the end of this, you’ll be navigating these misty peaks like a pro. Let’s get started, shall we?

First things first, you gotta unlock this hidden realm. Your journey begins with the Venom Daoist in the Webbed Hollow. Fast travel to the Pool of Shattered Jade Shrine, head right past those creepy webbed cocoons, and you’ll find a big one. Whack it until a cutscene kicks in, and bam, you’re fighting the Venom Daoist. He’s a tough cookie, but a warm-up for what’s to come.

After you send him packing, fast travel to the Court of Illumination Shrine in the Temple of the Yellow Flower. Turn around, go through the gate, up the stairs, and at the fork, take the left path down into a cave. Surprise! It’s the Venom Daoist again, but this time he’s got two phases. It’s a real test of your dodging skills. Once he’s down for good, a cutscene plays where he points to a wall, revealing a mystical painting.

Interact with that bad boy, and you’ll be whisked away to the breathtaking, yet dangerous, Purple Cloud Mountain. Welcome to the big leagues!

Once you’re in control, follow the path. You’ll soon meet a snake NPC mourning on a tree. Her story is a real tearjerker—her village was wiped out by wicked insects. Chat with her, and don’t forget to grab the golden chest nearby containing x3 Antimiasma Powder. Handy stuff! From here, cross the bridge to your right, absorb the green wisp, and follow the narrow path to the Valley of Blooms Shrine.

Now, for some exploration and loot! Directly ahead from the shrine, drop down and fight a blue-flame tree enemy. Defeating it nets you the Verdant Glow (Spirit). Sweet! Then, climb the hill to your right, walk across a huge tree branch, and voila! A wooden chest with the Gold Sun Crow Curio. You can head back to the shrine or continue down.

Stick to the main path, but keep your eyes peeled for a sneaky Lushleaf enemy. You’ll soon face a Snake Herbalist. Take it down to get the Snake Herbalist (Spirit). Proceed through an arch, defeat the two Staff Daoists guarding the Petalfall Hamlet Shrine, and offer your incense.

From this shrine, head straight up the stairs to an open area. Look left, and you’ll see Daoist Mi chilling there, with a green wisp behind him. Talk to him, and he’ll ask you to fetch the Violet Hail.

This item drops from the yellow-robed monks wandering the area. You’ll need to defeat a few, but it’s worth it. Once you have it, return to Daoist Mi. Handing it over triggers the boss fight. Oh man, this guy is something else. He has two phases. First, he’s a normal swordsman. Deplete his health, and a cutscene shows him drinking a potion, transforming his head into a monster with a full health bar. Phase two begins!

Defeating him is a major achievement and rewards you with the Violet Hail Transformation Spell. A must-have for any spellcaster build!

Now, back to the Petalfall Hamlet Shrine. Turn around, go left, follow the path, and at a gazebo, turn left again. Watch out for another Lushleaf! See a small house with breakable pots? Turn right. You’ll find a small structure near a cliff; turn right, go down the stairs, and you’ll reach the Bounds of Deity’s Abode Shrine.

Go through the large arch, defeat a Snake Herbalist, and keep going until you see a yellow-robed enemy guarding a chest under a pagoda. Beat him, open the chest, and score the Celestial Registry Tablet Curio.

Time for the big one. Return to that house with the breakable pots. Smash them all. This summons The Scorpionlord. Let me be straight with you: this boss is, hands down, one of the toughest fights in Chapter 4. Even at a high level, his attacks hit like a truck, often taking you out in just two hits. His poison is no joke either. It’s a battle of patience and precision.

Once you finally triumph—and you will, I believe in you—you get the Sky-Piercing Horn and Deathstinger. Don’t forget to enter his house and open the golden chest for Loong Aura Amplification Pellets.

IMPORTANT PSA: 🚨 Do NOT skip to the final boss before beating Daoist Mi and The Scorpionlord. If you do, you’ll miss out on the Violet Hail Transformation and the Deathstinger material needed to craft the awesome Venomous Sting Insect Armor. That’s a big no-no!

Alright, final stretch. Return to the Petalfall Hamlet shrine, cross the bridge, go left through the door where you first met Daoist Mi. Go up the stairs, turn left, follow the path across a bridge (watch for a Staff Daoist), then turn right, right again, and head downhill to the Cloudnest Peak Shrine.

From there, ascend the narrow stairs into an open area. A cutscene plays, and then… it’s time. The final boss of Purple Cloud Mountain: The Duskveil. This secret boss is a massive, awe-inspiring creature with devastating wide-range attacks and, you guessed it, two phases. It’s the ultimate test of everything you’ve learned.

Defeating this behemoth is an incredible feeling. You’ll be rewarded with the Weaver’s Needle, The Duskveil’s Horn, and Double-Combed Rooster Blood before being transported back to the Temple of the Yellow Flower. From there, the main story awaits.

So there you have it, my comprehensive, from-the-trenches guide to Purple Cloud Mountain. It’s a grind, it’s tough as nails, but the loot and the sense of accomplishment are totally worth it. Good luck, and may your combos be ever flawless! 🐒✨
