Black Myth: Wukong True Ending Guide: Secret Bosses, Great Pagoda, and Erlang

Black Myth: Wukong True Ending Requirements guide reveals Treasure Hunter, four Secret Areas, Erlang, and the correct final-boss order.

As of 2026, Black Myth: Wukong remains a landmark action RPG, and its True Ending route continues to be one of the most talked-about post-game journeys. The conclusion is not merely a final cutscene; it is a gate to a hidden confrontation with Erlang, The Great Divinity, and a larger spectacle than the standard Chapter 6 finale. The Destined One can unlock both endings in a single playthrough, and none of the required steps are missable. After Chapter 6, the world remains open, allowing players to backtrack and finish optional quests. The path begins in Chapter 3 at the Great Pagoda, located in Pagoda Realm – Snow-Veiled Trail.

True Ending Requirements Overview

The True Ending demands four major accomplishments. First, the player must complete the Treasure Hunter quest. Second, four Secret Areas tied to Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5 must be finished, with each area's end boss defeated. Third, the player must return to the Great Pagoda and defeat the secret boss waiting there. Fourth, the final boss of Chapter 6 must be completed. The order of the last two steps matters for the best possible outcome. If Chapter 6 is finished before Erlang, the normal ending appears. If Chapter 6 is finished after Erlang and the hidden bosses, the True Ending triggers. A second fight against the Chapter 6 final boss may be required if the normal ending was already seen.

✅ Step Required Action Location

2 Clear four Secret Areas Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5
3 Defeat hidden boss Great Pagoda
4 Defeat Chapter 6 final boss Chapter 6

Treasure Hunter Quest

The Treasure Hunter quest is found in Chapter 3. The NPC first appears at Bitter Lake – North Shore of Bitter Lake, inside a ruined temple guarded by three flying enemies. After speaking with him, the player must progress to Valley of Ecstasy – Forest of Felicity shrine. There, the Treasure Hunter sits on a log, shivering. The Ring of Fire spell is used to warm him, and a cutscene follows. His next location is Valley of Ecstasy – Melon Field shrine. From Forest of Felicity, the route goes down the hill to a river with a large tablet on a ledge. To the right, a lit path descends to the Melon Field shrine. Inside the cave, the Green-Capped Martialist must be defeated. Completing this quest rewards the Spell Binder, a powerful tool that boosts strength while blocking all spells, forcing a staff-only combat style.

Four Secret Areas

Each Secret Area is tied to a chapter quest. They are not missable, and players can return later if a step is skipped.

Chapter 1: Ancient Guanyin Temple

To unlock Ancient Guanyin Temple, three bells in the forest must be rung.

  • Bell #1: Forest of Wolves – Outside the Forest, guarded by the Guangzhi optional boss.

  • Bell #2: Bamboo Grove – Snake Trail, guarded by the Guangmo optional boss.

  • Bell #3: Bamboo Grove – Marsh of White Mist, guarded by the White-Clad Noble boss.

Defeating the Elder Jinchi boss completes the area and grants the Fireproof Mantle vessel.

Chapter 2: Kingdom of Sahali

The Kingdom of Sahali is unlocked through the Drunk Boar NPC quest.

  • Step #1: Fright Cliff – Rockrest Flat. Talk to the boar in the large dead-end area. He requests a Sobering Stone, found at Yellow Wind Formation – Windrest Hamlet Checkpoint.

  • Step #2: Crouching Tiger Temple. Talk to the boar at the Tiger Vanguard boss location. Give him a Jade Lotus, found in Chapter 1 near the water.

  • Step #3: Valley of Despair – Sandgate Village. Defeat the large rat enemy and collect the Arhat Gold Piece.

  • Step #4: Return to Rockrest Flat. Defeat the boar's boss form, the Yellow-Robed Square, to open the bonus area gate.

Inside the Kingdom of Sahali, the giant bug boss Fuban must be defeated. This earns the Wind Tamer vessel.

Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain

Purple Cloud Mountain requires defeating the Venom Daoist optional boss.

  • Venom Daoist #1: Webbed Hollow – Pool of Shattered Jade. To the right of the shrine, enter the cave full of spider cocoons. At the end, attack the large talking cocoon to reveal the boss. Defeat him.

  • Venom Daoist #2: Temple of the Yellow Flower – Court of Illumination. From the shrine, backtrack into the canyons and find a path into a large cavern below. Defeat him to unlock Purple Cloud Mountain.

Purple Cloud Mountain contains the Scorpionlord, a difficult optional boss that can be ignored. The required target is the Duskveil, which grants the Weaver's Needle vessel.

Chapter 5: Bishui Cave

Bishui Cave is unlocked by finding and destroying all corpse carts on the mountain. The boss of Bishui Cave must then be defeated to complete the dungeon.

Great Pagoda and Erlang

Once the Treasure Hunter quest and all four Secret Areas are complete, the hidden boss path opens. The player returns to the Great Pagoda. If every requirement is met, the murals appear, and the back wall of the Pagoda chamber can be interacted with. This transports the Destined One to a new area. At the end of the path waits Erlang, The Great Divinity. Defeating him and the following bosses is essential.

After Erlang falls, the Chapter 6 final boss must be defeated. This produces the True Ending. The final sequence is a massive spectacle, and while Erlang is extremely difficult, the remaining fights are easier by comparison. The True Ending route is long, but it is also one of the most rewarding journeys in the game. With patience, exploration, and preparation, the Destined One can witness the complete conclusion that Black Myth: Wukong hides behind its secret walls.
